Welcome to Provident Organic Farms CSA

Provident Organic Farms is a part of a Community Supported Agriculture operation, or CSA. In a CSA, members invest in the crops before the season begins so that they finance the up-front expenses related to growing the produce for the CSA. In exchange, as the harvest comes in, the farmer supplies each household with a weekly supply of fresh, organically grown produce. The farmer uses all of his knowledge and skill to grow healthy, delicious vegetables, using sustainable agriculture practices, and members enjoy the bounty. The risk is shared, along with the rewards.

Provident Organic Farms consists of several growing operations in the vicinity of Salisbury, MD. Started in 2001 with a small group of dedicated shareholders and one farm, it has grown to serve over 200 families and involving several farms. We offer shares from April - November.

In 2010, Provident will continue to work with LESSON (Lower Eastern Shore Sustainable/Organic Network) to develop the network of farms to broaden the range of locally grown products for the members including but not limited to beef, pork, fish, milk, eggs and cheese. Our goal is to build community around the most essential and unifying force in our lives: FOOD.
