" Every night before we eat dinner we all say something that we are thankful for - last night Colby (my youngest - 3yrs) completely unprompted said that he was thankful for Farmer Jay and then Mitchell followed with that he was thankful for his garden. Being part of the CSA and growing our own food has really had an impact on our children to appreciate the good food that we have and where it comes from. I just wanted to let you know that you are a big part of that. We truely are thankful for everything that you do - every day! "

. . I just wanted to say what a glorious experience it has been to
be a member of your CSA and to receive all those vegetables that are
both healthful and beautiful. I know you have worked very hard on
doing this for all of us and I believe that a very big THANK YOU is in
Belonging to your CSA has been a whole lifestyle for me. The
regular trips to the Lewes Farmers' Market, the new varieties of
vegetables to try, receiving old standby veggies (like carrots and
beets) that I wouldn't normally think to buy, sharing them with our
daughter, cooking the vegetables with the simple yet delicious recipes
in /Simply in Season/, and enjoying, enjoying, enjoying. I'm torn
between wanting to tell everyone I meet what a great deal and
experience this has been and wanting to keep it secret so I can be
assured of membership next year.
Using all of the vegetables we received has been an effort for me.
Hours of chopping, dicing and cooking. But now, as the
season closes, I have some great memories in the freezer from this
viewpoint on farm subsidies (in an early newsletter) was an
eye-opener. I never realized that this Federal help wasn't going
where it would help the most to build an important local food supply
for all Americans. Since the Farm Subsidy Bill is now being
discussed, my next email will be to our representatives in Congress to
ask why this is.
I hope you will continue to operate this CSA, though not as principal
grower, and that space on your client list will continue to
expand. Let me know how I can help. Thank you again for a

"What an amazing bounty of beautiful, fresh
vegetables that Provident Farm has produced these past three
weeks! As I looked into our BIG bag of leafy greens and other delicious
vegetables, I thought how glad I am that you, Jay, are such a
knowledgable and persistent farmer. I just want you to know how
fortunate we feel to be able to be a part of your farm community. Your
hard work, as well as that of everyone who helps in the effort, is so

important rule for anyone who supports a sustainable way of life is
'know your farmer'. Seeing first-hand the operation of Provident farm
and Jay's practices in action; how they improve the land at the same
time they produce nutritious food that we all enjoy is to be convinced
that it is a model for the world to follow. We are enthusiastic
supporters of the Provident Farms CSA, not just for the vegetables,
which are an excellent value, but also in order to vote with our dollars
for sustainable practices and viable local agriculture. My advice to
anyone who cares about the planet and your community is to go organic
and go local."
"Thank you for making it possible to enrich
my diet with some of the healthiest, freshest produce I have ever had
the pleasure of preparing and enjoying. I shared my (your) bounty with
friends and family, who were equally amazed and grateful.
Because of your generosity I experienced new foods (kohlrabi), learned
new ways to cook old favorites, made new friends and saw some old ones
at the Friday afternoon pick-ups.
I know I wasn't the intended recipient of your shares, but I certainly
appreciate the kind-hearted spirit that turned a fluke into a fantastic
